Nourish is more than a project, it's a collective effort to understand, support, and celebrate the way food flows through our land, our communities and our culture. We’re working to gather real, on-the-ground data about how Cumbria grows, distributes, and shares its food - and we need your help.
Get Involved
1.18 million acres is farmed in Cumbria with over 5,000 farm holdings.
Cumbria has 14% of England's sheep flocks (1.9 million sheep) and almost 8% of England's beef cattle herds (44,500 head of cattle)
Volunteer as a Local Data Collector
We’re recruiting volunteers across Cumbria to help us gather vital information about food supply chains, farming practices, local food producers, and community food activities. You don’t need a background in research — just a willingness to talk to people, visit local farms or markets, and help us build a grassroots understanding of how food moves through our region.
Why It Matters
We're building a living map of Cumbria’s food landscape — one that shows where our food comes from; how it’s distributed; who’s involved; what gaps or strengths exist, and how local efforts are making a difference from field to fork. Your involvement helps reveal the full picture. Let’s tell Cumbria’s food story — together.

Become a Partner
We’re looking to collaborate with farms, growers and food producers; community organisations and local groups; educational institutions and researchers; health and wellbeing initiatives; and funders and supporters who share our commitment to understanding and strengthening Cumbria’s food systems.
If your work intersects with food, farming, data, or community, we’d love to connect. Together, we can amplify stories, share insights, and shape a more transparent and connected food future for Cumbria.

Support Our Work
Support volunteers, run events, and share our findings in meaningful, creative ways. Your support helps ensure this information is free, accessible, and beneficial to everyone — from farmers to families.
